01/Overview
Residential roofing

Your roof is the one thing protecting everything else.

Houses, cottages, period and new-build homes all rely on a roof that quietly keeps the weather out. We survey it properly, explain what it actually needs, and put the right covering back on, whether that is a handful of slipped tiles or a full re-roof done from scratch.

Completed tiled pitched roof on a home, re-roofed with new ridge and verge detailing by Clarkson Roofing
Pitched re-roof · Ravenstone
  • Pitched tile & slate

Full re-roofs and repairs in concrete or clay tile, natural and reclaimed slate, with new felt, battens and breathable membrane underneath.

  • Flat roofs

EPDM rubber, GRP fibreglass and felt over extensions, dormers, porches and garages, laid to a proper fall so water actually runs off.

  • Chimney & lead

Re-pointing, re-flaunching, rebuilds and fresh lead flashing to stacks and abutments, one of the most common places a house lets water in.

  • Roofline & gutters

Fascias, soffits, bargeboards and guttering renewed in uPVC or timber, so the edge of the roof stays sound and rainwater goes where it should.

  • Velux & roof windows

Roof windows supplied and fitted into pitched roofs, flashed in and made watertight, to bring daylight into lofts and converted rooms.

04/Repair or re-roof
The honest answer

Repair, or a full re-roof? We will tell you straight.

Sometimes a roof has years left and just needs putting right. Sometimes it has quietly reached the end. We say which.

09/FAQs
FAQs

Residential roofing, common questions.

Do you carry out small repairs as well as full re-roofs?

Yes. We handle everything from a handful of slipped tiles or a leaking flashing through to stripping a house right back and re-roofing it in full. If a repair is the sensible option we will say so, rather than pushing a bigger job than the roof needs. Request a free home roof survey.

Do you work on period and listed homes?

Yes. We re-roof cottages, period and listed homes using reclaimed and natural slate, clay tiles and traditional lead detailing matched to the existing roof, so the finish is in keeping with the age and character of the property.

What roof coverings do you lay on houses?

Concrete and clay tiles, natural and reclaimed slate on pitched roofs, plus EPDM, GRP fibreglass and felt on flat roofs over extensions, dormers and porches. The right covering depends on the pitch, the existing roof and the look you want.

Will you protect the house and garden while you work?

Yes. We sheet up, keep scaffold and access tidy, protect planting and paths, and clear away at the end of each day. We sweep for nails and leave the site clean, and we take the old materials away when the job is done.

Do you give a written, fixed-price quote?

Yes. After a free survey we put everything in writing, with a clear fixed price and a plain description of the work. There are no day-rate surprises, and if we find something unexpected we talk to you before any extra work goes ahead. See how we quote.

Are you insured, and is the work guaranteed?

Yes. Clarkson Roofing is fully insured. Manufacturer material warranties apply to the tiles, slates and membranes we install, typically 15 to 30 years depending on the covering and specification.

How long does a house re-roof take?

A typical semi or terraced re-roof is often around one to two weeks, weather depending, while a larger detached home or a complex period roof can take longer. We give you a realistic timescale with the quote, before any work starts.

Can you help with a roof leak quickly?

Yes. For an active leak we aim to attend quickly, make the roof safe and watertight, then quote any permanent repair separately. We offer emergency support across the region. See our emergency roof repairs.

Which areas do you cover for residential roofing?

We cover Milton Keynes, Newport Pagnell, Bedford and the surrounding counties, including Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, South Warwickshire and London.
